The LIMMYs – exploring the possibilities together
As you might guess, I’m pretty bullish about how marketing automation technology like Patron Point can help libraries raise their relevance and patron engagement in today’s wired world. And it’s not just me. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard from libraries I talk with about the great ideas they have to provide better service and more actively promote offering to their communities.
That’s why I’m excited to announce the launch of the Library Marketing Technology Innovation Awards which we’re calling the “LIMMYs” for short. (You can read the press release announcing the program.)
The goals of the LIMMYs are to provide libraries with the opportunity to crystallize their ideas on how marketing automation technology could benefit their library, test out their ideas in a real world environment and then share the results with their colleagues in the library community. To make this all happen, Patron Point will provide the system that a library can use to develop and test their idea. We’ll also support a forum where they will have the opportunity to present their finding to as broad an audience as possible..thinking ALA Annual in Washington, DC.
We’ve prepared a website that provides all the details.
What I am most excited about is the possibility for collaboration. I’ve been in product development long enough to know that great ideas come from the people who actually use the product. I also have learned that most of the fun in solving real-world problems comes from being able to work side-by-side with libraries to develop those solutions. My hope is that the LIMMYs give us these opportunities.
As you can guess, the journey might be more interesting than the destination, so I’ll be using this blog to chronicle some of the highlights over the next few months. In addition, you can follow us on Twitter @patronpoint. I’ll be using the hashtags #librarymarketing and #limmyawards so keep an eye out for updates.
So, take a look. If you have a good idea don’t hesitate to submit it. We’ll help you refine your ideas to give you the best possible chance of being selected for the trials. And if you’re selected, get ready to roll!
